I help you set up Google Tag Manager so the measurement and marketing tags your website needs work the way you agreed. I can start with a new installation or review your existing container, events and triggers.
The goal is a clear measurement plan, a tested setup and an overview of what your website tracks. If needed, I work together with your web developer.
Google Tag Manager, or GTM, is a tag management tool. It lets you organise measurement setups for Google Analytics and advertising platforms, for example, and decide when each tag fires.
GTM does not replace an analytics tool, and it does not guarantee correct tracking on its own. That requires the right events, data and a tested setup.
The service is worth considering when important actions are not tracked, events fire more than once or you don't know which tags have been added to your website.
A review is also useful after a website redesign, adding a new form or starting with a new advertising platform. If several people have changed the container, an audit makes the existing setup understandable again.
We agree on which actions to measure for your business goal, such as a successful enquiry, a sign-up or a purchase. I separate final goals from the actions that support them.
Within the agreed scope, I review the installation, tags, triggers and variables. I check for double counting and whether existing solutions match the events you need.
I set up the agreed events and assess which data is available on the website. If a data layer or extra development is needed, I write the brief and we agree on how it gets built.
I check how the agreed tags work with your website's consent management. For Google tags, I also review the Consent Mode setup and how the visitor's choice is passed to the tags.
I test the tracking of the agreed actions and document the events and settings used. We agree on the publishing workflow and access before any changes are made.
You get GTM set up or cleaned up within the agreed scope, plus an overview of the actions being tracked. I document the changes made and any open questions found during testing.
If an action depends on web development or another tool, I point this out together with the next step. That way it is clear what is done and what still needs work.
GTM helps you manage tags and when they fire. Google Analytics 4 is the analytics tool where the collected data arrives and can be explored.
The tools can work together, but setting them up involves different tasks. If you also need GA4 events, key events or reports sorted out, we can scope that work separately. If tracking is part of Google Ads work or a wider marketing audit, we take that into account too.
The price depends on the number of events and platforms, the state of the current setup, the consent solution and how much development is needed. Creating simple new tracking and cleaning up a complex old container are very different amounts of work.
In the proposal, I specify the actions to be set up, the tools, the testing scope and any work that depends on other parties.
Yes. I can check your existing tags, events and triggers and recommend fixes. We agree on the scope of changes once the need is clear.
Sometimes. The installation, certain events or building a data layer may need your web developer. I assess this before implementation and describe the task needed.
Yes, if the website's technical setup allows a successful submission to be detected reliably. A click on the submit button and an enquiry actually sent can be different events.
GTM and GA4 work can be combined in one proposal. We specify which events, key events, reports and integrations are needed. Not all of this is automatically included in every GTM audit.
I recommend keeping your measurement tools in accounts your company controls. We agree on the access needed and who can publish changes before work starts.
